The Secret Lost Gospel of Thomas: The Power of Knowing Yourself

How to use the Language of Emotion to Create the Life you want.

In 1945 some workers in Egypt accidentally dug into an early Christian Tomb. Inside they found a jug containing 13 leather-bound manuscripts which were composed of 38 separate works. Most of these works are gnostic.

Gnosticism teaches salvation through mystical knowledge. One of the manuscripts contains the Secret or Lost Gospel of Thomas. In Gnosticism, people are believed to be souls in material bodies and only true knowledge can lead them to ascension.

According to this religion, Jesus is the Redeemer who came to communicate this knowledge to men he delivered this knowledge to his select disciples, who would then teach the world, or at least teach the seekers of the world. One of them was Thomas.

Nearly all spiritual paths that are known and followed eventually agree that what we discovered in the lost teachings of Thomas leads to ascension. Had these teachings been kept in the bible “The Message” would focus on the power that is within each of us.

The Gospel, according to Thomas, doesn’t tell a story; it is a collection of approximately 114 sayings attributed to Jesus.

The Opening Verse Reads

“These are the words that Jesus the Living One spoke, and Thomas Dydimus Judas wrote. And Jesus said who he whoever finds interpretations of these sayings shall never taste death. Let him who not seeks not stop until he finds. When he finds he will be troubled when he is troubled, he will marvel, and he will reign over The Universe.”

The sayings are not the mystery; the mystery lies in their interpretation.

My interpretation of this opening is this:

When we find true answers, we will be troubled because some truth might go directly against what we have been taught. Perhaps we will wonder why haven’t we been taught this before. However, when the truth sets in within us, we will marvel, most importantly, we will know our power. And we will know that we have absolute reign over our life and everything in our world.

When we know the truth, we know ourselves then we can truly experience a blissful life with the fulfilment of all our desires.

The Gospel of Thomas was eliminated from the Bible. The reason religious philosophers gave us for this was that the teachings in the Gospel of Thomas are not necessary to the fundamentals of the Christian faith.

The Gospel of Thomas is powerful because it is believed to be the words of Jesus as he taught those around him how to use the power of human emotion.

Ancient people knew these teachings, the indigenous people know these teachings, so why don’t we know this teachings? Why isn’t this a part of our culture and our tradition?

In our western tradition, the Judaea Christian tradition there was a time when the language of emotion was part of our culture; it was in our texts until the second century. In 325 A.D. something happened, our texts were edited, and we lost significant amounts of information. The Emperor Constantine the Great in the early Christian church had to make decisions about the early Christian Bible on what information he would include and what information he would exclude from The Book.

At least 45 books were either completely removed or heavily edited. The remains became what we call today our western biblical Tradition. We lost the information where everything connects aka The Secret. Everything related to the language of emotion was omitted. We now know the data was lost because we are currently recovering it; in the Dead Sea scrolls in the Coptic texts and other sources.

There are sacred truths intended to be passed on to all people, yet only a few gained access to them.

Any indication, exploration, or spreading of the idea that each person has the same power as Jesus would have changed the course of history as we know it.

The fact that we are each different and unique does not make us separate. We are all part of the same unique consciousness, simply taking different forms.

Here are some of the sayings of Jesus according to The Gospel of Thomas

Verse 3.

“If those who lead you say, see, the kingdom is in the sky then the birds of the sky will precede you. If they say it’s in the sea then the fish will precede you. Rather the kingdom is inside of you, and it is outside of you. When you come to know yourself, then you will become known, and you will realise that it is you who are the Sons of the Living Father. But if you will not know yourself, you do dwell in poverty, and it is you who are that poverty.”

My interpretation of this text is this

Ultimately it is wrong to believe that your power is outside of you; this belief has severe consequences. When you believe that power in your life belongs to something or someone else other than you, then that thing or someone will have power over your life, as you are giving it to them. However, when we realise who we really are; the one consciousness that moves through everything and that all power comes from within we can live rich and fulfilling lives.

The kingdom is within us, and outside of us, we manifest our outside circumstances from within. The belief that outside circumstances or people have control over our life can keep us from experiencing the rich and the fulfilling existence that is our birthright.

What’s your interpretation?

Verse 27

“If you do not fast from the world you will not find the (Father’s) domain.”

My interpretation is

that we need to master the ability to turn away from that which doesn’t serve us in our world: disturbing thoughts, limiting beliefs, unhealthy relationships, harsh self-judgement, comparisons, hate, fear. Fear, fear, fear. Otherwise, we continue to experience the unwanted reality in our lives.

What’s your interpretation?

Verse 50

“If they say to you, Where do you come from? Say to them; we came from the light the place where the light came into being on its own accord and established itself and became manifest through their image. If they say to you Is it you? Say we are Its children we are the elect of the living Father. If they ask you, What is the sign of your Father in you? Say to them; it is movement and repose.”

My interpretation of this verse is that light signifies the origin of all existence as we know it. Light is the consciousness of each person; it is the all in all. Consciousness lives in us through activity and awareness. We are light by definition. One light. One consciousness.

What’s your interpretation?

Verse 77

“It is I who AM the light which is above them all it is I who AM the all in the All” “From me did the All come forth, and from me, they all extend. Split a piece of wood, and I am in there. Lift up the stone, and you will find me there.”

My interpretation: The one consciousness lives within everything. Thus so do we. We are consciousness.

What’s your interpretation?

Verse 113

“His disciples said to him. When will the kingdom come? Jesus said it would not come by waiting for it will not be a matter of saying here it is or there it is. Rather the kingdom of the Father is spread out upon the Earth and men did not see it.”

My interpretation is that we have always had the power within ourselves, but we have lost sight of it. It is not something we have to wait for or find it; it’s something that is already a part of us and our world. We don’t see it, use it, experience it or live it, because we don’t really believe in it.

Let’s be honest. Who really feels powerful right now? Anyone as powerful as Jesus? Some will even feel afraid of the thought. Just the thought. If you had a million dollars under your bed but didn’t know you had it and didn’t care to look under your bed even if someone told you that the million dollars were there, what good would that million dollars be to you?

The Secret is in the Power of Emotion

To unleash the force of the divine matrix in our lives, first we have to understand how it works, science tells us how. Secondly, we must speak the language of the divine matrix so it can recognise us when we communicate. Science cannot tell us this. The language comes from our past from our culture, and it is hidden in The Gospel of Thomas.

In the Gospel of Thomas, we learn what the great teachers and masters say about this language, the language of emotion. Buddhists, Hindus, Christians, Pre-Christians. They all tell us that there is a field of energy where creation and manifestation happens; we can use the language of emotion to access this field.

We have two very important elements in the Gospel of Thomas.

1: That the feeling is the prayer.

2: We must feel as if the prayer has already been answered

The text gives us instructions on how to do this.

Verse 106

“When you make the two; thought and emotion one you will say to the mountain, mountain move away and the mountain will move away.”

My interpretation is that when you blend thought and emotion, transforming it into one single force that is when you have the power to bend reality. When thought and emotion become one in our hearts, we create the feelings that speak to the energy field where creation happens.

Verse 48

“If the two make peace with each other in this one house. They will say to the mountain “move away”, and it will move away.

How do you we blend thought and emotion in one? The unedited biblical texts explain this process.

We are all familiar with the verse “Ask and you shall receive” Mathew 7:7

We are also familiar with the feeling of asking and asking and asking again and have nothing happening. I was very familiar with that feeling for a long time. The reason was that I was doing the asking with my voice, with my words. That is the incorrect way of asking.

To ask correctly, we must speak to the divine matrix, the energy field, in the language that it understands — the language of our heart. When we have a feeling, our heart creates electrical waves that communicate with the energy field. This is the language it recognises.

Our current Bible contains the edited version of this teaching:

King James Version John 16: 23–24

“Whatsoever you ask the Father in my name. He will give it to you. Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name. Ask, and ye shall receive that your joy may be full.”

In this verse, they edited out the two sentences that tell us how to ask. The subtracted sentences are included in the Aramaic translation of the original text:

“All things that you ask straightly directly from inside my name, you will be given. So far, you have not done this. Ask without hidden motive and be surrounded by your answer be enveloped by what you desire that your gladness be full.”

My interpretation and final conclusion is that we mustn’t ask with words but with feelings and be swamped in the feelings produced by the joy of having our desires fulfilled. We must ask without hidden motives, without judgement or limiting beliefs, without the ego but from the heart.

The Philosopher G. Neville, in his book “The Power of Awareness” wrote:

“You must make your future dreams a present fact by assuming the feeling of your wish fulfilled.”
